Police have arrested a 21-year-old local man in connection with a hit-and-run of a cyclist Friday evening in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

Connor Campanell, of 55 Livermore Road, Wellesley, turned himself in to police later Friday night. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, operating under the influence of liquor and causing a serious injury accident, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and failure to keep right for oncoming traffic.

The cyclist, a 47-year-old Framingham man who was wearing a helmet, was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Witnesses said a male driver of a pickup truck hit the cyclist at about 6 p.m. while driving on Hampshire Road and kept driving. According to police, speed was a factor in the crash.
