A 3-year-old girl has died after falling into a pond in West Newbury, Massachusetts, police confirm.
The incident happened Sunday at Mill Pond.
The child was rushed to Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport after falling into the water shortly after 12:45 p.m.
The Essex County District Attorney's Office confirmed just after 5 p.m. that the girl had passed away.
"This is obviously a very sad time, especially on Easter." said West Newbury Police Chief Art Reed.
Authorities say the death does not appear to be suspicious, but state and local police are investigating.
