The Massachusetts State Police are investigating a fatal crash that took place on Route 128 in Danvers on Monday.
At 9 A.M. the police responded to a three-car crash on the northbound side of Route 128.
Preliminary investigations indicated that a male operator of a 2015 Jeep Renegade stopped in the right travel lane. He then began traveling again when he side-swiped a Ford Explorer and then hit the rear end of a Honda Civic.
The Renegade's operator and only occupant, a 59-year-old male from Hamilton, was taken to Beverly Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The ongoing investigation is looking into if the operator suffered a medical event immediately prior to the crash.
The Honda's operator was taken to a hospital with mild injuries, and the Ford's operator was not injured.
The name of the deceased is not being released pending next of kin notification.
