Wilkerson Expected to Plead Guilty

(NECN: Boston, Mass.) - Former state Sen. Dianne Wilkerson is expected to plead guilty to corruption charges in U.S. District Court on Thursday.

Wilkerson was caught on video allegedly stuffing her bra with bribe money from an undercover FBI agent. Prosecutors said Wilkerson took more than $23,000 to help a nightclub in her district get a liquor license, and to help and undercover agent posing as a businessman win state work.

It is unclear how many of the charges to which Wilkerson will plead guilty. Full details of the plea agreement will be available after Thursday afternoon's hearing.

Another suspect in the corruption case, Boston City Councilor Chuck Turner, remains on the job. He has plead not guilty to attempted extortion. He was indicted with Wilkerson for allegedly taking a $1,000 bribe.

"The judge separated our two cases because he realized they're different cases," Turner said. "Whatever she's plead guilty to doesn't have anything to do with my trial, because I'm innocent."
