Plans for a new Tesla store in Rhode Island have been put on hold indefinitely.
The electric car manufacturer had received permission to open a store at a former Hyundai dealership in Warwick, and the city's former mayor said in January that the store would open in the spring.
A spokesman for current Mayor Joseph Solomon told the Providence Journal Thursday that Tesla "will not be coming to Warwick at this time."
It is unclear if Tesla will open a store at another location, or if it will open a store in the state at all.
The company has declined to comment.
Tesla faced a hurdle coming to the state, as it sells cars directly from the company and state law prohibits manufacturers from selling without using a dealership.
