Authorities in Rhode Island are investigating a hit and run that killed a grandmother Sunday evening.
Providence police tell affiliate WJAR that an 83-year-old woman was crossing the street at Broadway and Marshall streets just after 5 p.m. with her 31-year-old granddaughter when they were struck by what police describe as a black SUV.
Both victims were taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where the grandmother was pronounced dead a little while later; police say her granddaughter is listed in stable condition.
