A Rhode Island man has been convicted of fatally shooting a brother and sister in Massachusetts in 2010.
Plymouth District Attorney Timothy Cruz says a jury on Wednesday found 31-year-old John Monteiro guilty of first-degree murder in the deaths of 26-year-old Maria DePina and 30-year-old Jorge DePina.
A judge sentenced Monteiro to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Police say the siblings were found dead in a Brockton apartment on Jan. 21, 2010. Both had suffered gunshot wounds to the head.
Prosecutors say Jorge DePina owed Monteiro a debt, and that Monteiro forced his way into their apartment, shot both victims and later sold the gun to an FBI informant.
