Suspect Arrested in Apartment Stabbing

Police are investigating after a West Warwick man was stabbed twice inside an apartment in the central Rhode Island town.

Police say they received a call around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday from the victim, a 23-year-old man, who reported that he had been stabbed inside his home at the Greenwich Place Apartments on Dogwood Drive.

The victim, who wasn't identified, was stabbed twice in the arm and torso. He was transported to Kent County Hospital for treatment of his injuries. He's been listed in serious, but stable condition.

Police say the stabbing wasn't a random act. Investigators believe the attack was the escalation of a verbal dispute.

A 27-year-old acquaintance of the victim was taken into police custody.
