A major supermarket chain recalled some of their edamame products Friday.
Stop & Shop has taken their Nature's Promise brand Organic Edamame products off of shelves. Edamame is a type of soy bean, but the labels failed to list soy among the ingredients. This recall affects both the shelled and in pod varieties.
Soy is a known allergen that can potentially be life-threatening. Symptoms of this allergy include hives, itching, swelling, and more. The products pose no health risk to customers without soy allergies.
Stop & Shop is urging customers to throw away whatever recalled Nature's Promise Edamame they have and bring their receipts to the store for a full refund.
