Pot Legalization Advocates Propose Banning Alcohol Sales

Two Vermont state representatives have filed legislation to ban the sale of alcohol

Frustrated by a lack of action on marijuana legalization, two Vermont lawmakers are trying a new tack: If we can't have our pot, you can't have your booze.

Reps. Chris Pearson and Jean O'Sullivan of Burlington have filed legislation to ban the sale of alcohol in Vermont.

Pearson says they don't actually support the bill, but are trying to make a point that alcohol actually causes more social problems - including crimes of violence and overdose deaths - than marijuana does.

He says he supports regulating and taxing marijuana in similar fashion as Vermont currently does with alcohol.
