WATCH: Skiers and Riders Encounter Moose at Vermont Resort

Video taken by a Smugglers' Notch ski patroller and coach shows them advising people on staying safe around the large animals

Some skiers and riders at a Vermont resort enjoyed a particularly memorable day on the mountain Wednesday, after having an up-close-and-personal experience with a pair of moose.

Video taken by ski patroller Lee Anderson and ski coach Tim Nakos at Smugglers’ Notch Resort in Jeffersonville shows what they witnessed in the woods just off the trails at the resort.

A friend, Smugglers’ Notch spokesman Mike Chait, said their group was taking advantage of eight inches or more of fresh powder Wednesday afternoon when they came upon what appeared to be a mother moose and her calf.

They encouraged other people to give the big animals plenty of room, to avoid spooking them. Sure enough, the moose lumbered away without bothering anyone.

Chait said it was definitely a cool sight to witness, particularly on a day that brought good skiing and riding conditions for Vermont resorts like Smuggs.
