Police say the driver and passenger were arrested at the scene and later charged

A police dog in Vermont is credited with finding nearly $32,000 worth of heroin during a traffic stop.

Bellows Falls police say they pulled a car over early Thursday in Rockingham. WPTZ-TV reports K9 Caesar was deployed and had a positive drug hit while searching the outside of the car.

The 19-year-old driver allowed officers to search the car and they found 3,185 bags of heroin. The driver and his passenger were arrested at the scene, and both are charged with trafficking heroin.

They were cited and released on conditions.
