Vermont Man Facing Attempted Second Degree Murder Charges for Shooting Son

Vermont State Police say a Goshen man is accused of shooting his son several times.

Police say 49-year-old Jeffrey Young is facing charges of attempted second-degree murder, attempted voluntary manslaughter, aggravated domestic assault and two counts of reckless endangerment.

Police were called to the home early Sunday morning. Authorities say an investigation determined that Young discharged a handgun multiple times through a door, hitting his son, 28-year-old Nicholas Young of Plymouth, Vermont.

Police say friends of the victim loaded him into a car and drove him to Rutland, where rescue personnel took him to the Rutland Regional Medical Center. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

It was not immediately known if Jeffrey Young is being represented by an attorney.
