Woman Whose Car Plunged Into Pond Charged With DUI

Woman was able to phone for help while in the water

A Massachusetts woman whose car plunged into a Vermont pond was rescued by divers and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Windham County sheriffs say 20-year-old Taylor Tuttle of Deerfield, Massachusetts went off Route 142 north around 2:30 a.m. Sunday and went into the water.

Officials tell WCAX that the woman was submerged and trapped inside her car, but had a cell phone and service and was able to call for help.

Tuttle - who was taken to an area hospital -was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and gross negligent operation. The crash is still under investigation.
