Woman Admits to Role in Underage Trafficking Scheme

Julie Shine pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges of trafficking in persons and theft by extortion

A New Hampshire woman has admitted to her role in a scheme with her husband to sell a 14-year-old girl for sexual purposes.

The Concord Monitor reports 42-year-old Julie Shine pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges of trafficking in persons and theft by extortion.

The Franklin resident was sentenced to serve 11 to 30 years behind bars in accordance with her plea deal with prosecutors.

Prosecutors say the Shines attempted to sell the girl to a police informant in November 2014 in a desperate attempt to make some quick cash.

William Shine is currently serving a 14- to 60-year prison sentence for human trafficking and endangering the welfare of a child.

Both Julie and William Shine will also face additional related charges.
