8 Injured, Including 1 American, After Car Bomb Explodes in Iraq

Two people were killed and eight people, including one American, were injured after a car bomb exploded on outside the U.S. Consulate in the Iraqi city of Erbil, a State Department official and Kurdish medical official told NBC News. Dr. Zawand Al Rasheed of Erbil's West Emergency Hospital said none of the patients have life-threatening injuries and the identities of the two dead are unclear. The American woman, a teacher at a local primary school, suffered second-degree burns but is in stable condition. It is still unknown who officially is responsible for the car bomb attack, however, a prominent Iraqi-based supporter of ISIS tweeted that the terror group is responsible for the attack. ISIS has not officially claimed responsibility.
