A person was rescued, revived with CPR, and taken to the hospital, as firefighters battled a house fire in Avon, Massachusetts on Tuesday night, according to the state fire marshal.
The person who was revived is in critical condition and a young boy was also treated for minor injuries and taken to the hospital, according to the Avon fire chief.
The multi-alarm house fire broke out on Freeman St., where firefighters from Avon, Sharon, Canton, Randolph, and Brockton battled the blaze.
A neighbor says he is praying for the injured man who lives next door.
"I looked outside my window and I saw smoke, I saw the flames, the firetruck. The flames were pretty high," the neighbor told NBC10 Boston. "Very sad, especially on a day like today, on Christmas. It's horrible."
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the state fire marshal.
