Boehner Invites Netanyahu to Address Congress

House Speaker John Boehner is inviting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress on February 11, NBC News reported. The invitation comes as the Hill braces for a clash with the White House over sanctions on Iran. On Tuesday night, President Barack Obama said in his State of the Union speech that he will veto any new Iran sanctions bill, which he says would undermine the chance for a long-sought nuclear deal with the country. But members of Congress, particularly Republicans, say sanctions are necessary to ensure the security of the United States and Israel. Netanyahu last addressed Congress in 2011.
