A Meriden woman is dead and a Meriden man was brought to the hospital after being hit by an Amtrak train in Wallingford on Tuesday night, police said.
Brittaney Tine, 24, of Meriden, and 29-year-old Robert Webb, also of Meriden, were walking northbound on the rails near Old Colony Road when a northbound train hit them near the Oak Street intersection in the Tracy section of town at 8:11 p.m., according to police.
Tine was pronounced dead immediately and Webb was transported to the Yale-New Haven Hospital for a fractured hand, Wallingford Police said.

Old Colony Road was closed to vehicles between Main and Oak streets to allow Amtrak Police and Wallingford Police to investigate and Amtrak is still investigating, according to police.
Residents in the area said they heard the impact and heard a man's voice screaming for help, police said.
Amtrak Police and Wallingford Police are issuing the warning that walking along train tracks is dangerous and illegal.
