2 Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash in Fall River, Massachusetts

The exact cause of the crash remains under investigation

Two people were killed early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Fall River, Massachusetts.

State police said troopers responded to the crash at 1:35 a.m. on Route 24, just south of exit 8A.

Authorities said a preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of the vehicle was traveling northbound when, for unknown reasons, veered off towards the right of the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver, a 36-year-old man, and his passenger, a 23-year-old man, both of Providence, Rhode Island, were transported to Charlton Hospital where they were pronounced dead. Another 23-year-old passenger was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

The identities of the victims have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
