1 Person, 1 Dog Dies in Derry, NH House Fire

DERRY, N.H. (AP) - Authorities say one person and a dog have died in a house fire in Derry, N.H.

The Derry Fire Department says a passer-by who noticed flames coming from the roof of the home called 911 just before 1 a.m. Friday. Crews were on the scene within three minutes but were unable to get into the house immediately because of the heavy volume of fire.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire. They say firefighters did not hear any activated smoke detectors in the home, which is considered a total loss.
