A Vermont addiction treatment center says it will temporarily close its doors later this month due to a staffing shortage.
Maple Leaf Treatment Center says it will stop accepting new patients for 30 days starting Jan. 15. The closure will only affect its Underhill facility and doesn't include the Colchester outpatient facility.
Maple Leaf says its clients will have completed their course of treatment before Jan. 15 or will be transferred to another center.
The state Health Department approved the closure after the center's executive director notified the state last week that it needed to restrict new intakes for a month.
The center says it will focus on filling six open positions and training new staff.
Officials say the closure is unrelated to five complaints the state received before Dec. 25.
