Construction Nearly Done on Affordable Housing Building

Construction is nearly done on a 16-unit apartment building in New Hampshire that will provide affordable housing for people with disabilities age 62 and older.

Occupancy is scheduled for October at the Sunrise House in Laconia. It abuts Sunrise Towers, a 98-unit building for elderly and disabled residents.

Twelve units will be rented to very low-income tenants who meet federal income requirements and who can remain living independently if assisted with daily living activities such as medication management, meals, grooming, and transportation. The other four units will be for moderate-income seniors.

The project received financing from New Hampshire Housing Finance Authority sourced from the federal Housing Trust Fund and state Affordable Housing Fund, plus contributions from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston, the Bank of New Hampshire, and Laconia Housing Local Programs.
