Deaths of 2 Puppies Found in Trash Bag Under Investigation

Police in Revere, Massachusetts, say a landscaper found the animals behind a Sunoco station on North Shore Road.

Police are investigating after the gruesome discovery of two dead puppies found Saturday in a trash bag behind a gas station in Revere, Massachusetts.

Residents of the city are appalled, saying this kind of crime is sickening.

"You just don't leave puppies behind a building and abandon them," said Revere resident Ronald Seaburg.

"That's not a human thing to do," said Jaclyn Doucette.

A landscaper found the animals behind a Sunoco station on North Shore Road, he told police. He had returned there to pick up leaves he had left in bags behind the station on Friday.

"It was obvious someone left another bag there that was similar to his, and when he opened it, he found two puppies inside."

Lt. O'Hare says they were six-to-eight-week-old pit bull mixes, with cropped tails, one a cream color, the other one black. They had no visible wounds, or collars for identification.

One of the dogs was male and the other was female, O'Hare added.

The Animal Rescue League of Boston took the animals to assist in the investigation.

The puppies are now with the Animal Rescue League of Boston. Officials there will figure out how the animals died, and if they were dead before being thrown away.

"We don't know the whole story, maybe it was a mistake," said Revere resident Alex Miller.

But for Seaburg, leaving puppies in a plastic bag doesn't seem like any kind of mistake.

"It doesn't matter, regardless, the puppy was placed there by somebody, so someone knows something and it's sick," Seaburg said.

Police are expecting results from the ARL within a couple weeks. They're asking anyone with information on this case to give them a call.

Anyone with information is asked to call Revere Police at (781) 656-1114.
