A former MIT professor has been charged with robbery after he allegedly filmed himself robbing a Capital One bank branch in New York City on New Year's Eve.
He was arrested on Jan. 8, and will be back in court for a pretrial hearing on April 14.
The New York Post reports Joseph Gibbons gave a note to the teller, and made off with $1,000 in cash. However, Gibbons reportedly told a cellmate he was doing research for a movie.
Gibbons is also the suspect police in Providence, Rhode Island, were looking for in a Citizen's Bank hold up two months ago, according to the Providence Journal.
Gibbons left MIT in 2010.
