Crews have been fighting a house fire in Rutland, Vermont, that is across the street from the local post office and had threatened surrounding homes.
Firefighters were called to the fire at about 3 a.m. Monday.
Nearby homes were evacuated. The Red Cross says preliminary reports indicate that seven to 10 families were potentially impacted by the fire and a team was responding to emergency needs.
It wasn't immediately known if anyone was hurt or what the cause of the fire was.
