Report: Toilet Bowl Cleaner Given to Trick-Or-Treaters

Two trick-or-treaters in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, in two separate incidents, were given blue poisonous disks in place of candy while trick-or-treating Halloween night, according to police.

Hopkinton Police say the kids, ages 6 and 14, were trick-or-treating in the downtown area.

"My daughter actually trick-or-treated downtown so I was definitely concerned," said one mother we spoke to.

Monday night, necn spoke off-camera with the very shaken mom of the 6--year-old.

She told us she discovered the tablet, fully packaged in a white wrapper, while inspecting her son's candy Sunday morning.

She took it to police and replaced all of his candy.

She also put on Facebook, "Check your kids Halloween buckets. My son was Trick or Treating in the downtown area and I found this toilet bowl cleaner in his candy bucket this am."

Police say neither child ate the tablets, and are now urging families to be vigilant and check all candy, while they investigate who handed the poison in place of a treat.

If you have any information that can help the investigation you're urged to contact Detective Gregg DeBoer at (508) 497-3401 ext. 1279.
