A Massachusetts man is now facing criminal charges after shooting and killing a golden retriever that was on his property.
Mark Vasseur of Lakeville was charged with malicious killing/injury of a domesticated animal after shooting the dog, named Walle, five times this past Sunday.
Police say Vasseur called them after the shooting claiming that the dog had attacked him and was trying to get at the chickens he was keeping on his property.
The suspect will be arraigned at Wareham District Court at a later date.
