The victim was found on the floor with apparent blunt-force trauma and he was pronounced dead on scene. Ryan said Monday that he was found in the basement by one of his tenants.

The medical examiner determined he was killed was blunt-force injuries and the manner of death was homicide.

Massetti, who is known to the victim, had been at the residence, officials said, and they have probable cause to believe Massetti is responsible for striking the victim during an altercation that resulted in his death.

Massetti was found about 1:30 p.m. in an area where homeless people are known to frequent and was taken into custody by Chelmsford police, Ryan said.

He'll be arraigned Tuesday, she said.
