Missing Swimmer's Body Recovered From North Andover Lake

The body of a 22-year-old Lawrence, Massachusetts man who went missing while swimming in a lake in North Andover on Thursday has been recovered, officials said Friday.

The man went underwater while swimming with his friends in Lake Cochichewick around 5:30 p.m. Thursday. He was reportedly with four other people on a raft. Two males fell in the water, but only one resurfaced.

Crews searched the lake until about 10 p.m. but weren't able to locate him. The search resumed Friday at 8 a.m., and the man's body was found about two hours later.

The man's family was at the scene and positively identified him as Rosido Jara. No foul play is suspected.

The body will be transported to the chief medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

North Andover police warned anyone swimming in the lake to exercise caution and avoid swimming in unguarded areas.
