An overdue hiker was found safe in Waterbury, Vermont, early Saturday morning.
Valerie Bak, 22, was reported missing just after midnight when she never returned from a hike on Mount Hunger that she left for eight hours earlier. Bak was reported to have little to no foul weather gear and limited supplies, as she was expecting to summit and then come back down.
Vermont State Police, Waterbury Back Country Rescue, and Stowe Mountain Rescue searched three separate trails on the mountain and located Bak.
Bak was evaluated by EMS staff and released at the scene.
