Engine Issues Force Emergency Landing at Bradley Airport

Engine problems forced a Republic Airways flight from New Jersey to Vermont to make an emergency landing at Bradley International Airport on Thursday night, according to a spokesperson for the airline.

Republic Airlines flight 3880 from Newark to Burlington landed without incident. Airline officials said no injuries were reported among the 71 passengers and four crew members on board.

Passengers got off on the runway and took buses to the terminal. Airline spokesman Scott Thien said the rest of the flight was canceled and the airline helped arrange alternate transportation for the passengers.

Maintenance crews are reviewing the engine problem, according to Thien.

Bradley officials said they shut down the airport for a short time as the plane landed and authorities investigated. The airport has reopened
