Police: Armed Army Deserter Taken Into Custody After Barricading Self in Hotel Room

An armed Army deserter has been taken into custody after barricading himself inside a Portsmouth, New Hampshire, hotel room, according to police.

Portsmouth Police told necn they were dealing with a situation downtown where an Army deserter is armed and potentially dangerous. They also posted the following message on Facebook:

Seacoastonline.com reported that "multiple police officers" were at the Hilton Garden Inn on High Street. Police said the situation is under control, but that the area was closed to the public.
