An armed Army deserter has been taken into custody after barricading himself inside a Portsmouth, New Hampshire, hotel room, according to police.
Portsmouth Police told necn they were dealing with a situation downtown where an Army deserter is armed and potentially dangerous. They also posted the following message on Facebook:

Police said the situation is under control, but that the area was closed to the public.
The initial call came in around 12:45 p.m. Local police and SWAT team members are reportedly at the scene.
