A 23-year-old Massachusetts man is accused of raping and strangling a woman he met earlier that day during a college campus visit.
Evens Noel of Peabody was ordered to be held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing during his arraignment on Wednesday.
The Middlesex district attorney's office said Noel was visiting Regis College on Friday, Sept. 22 when he met the victim.
In the early morning hours of Saturday, he and the victim later left the dorm to go on a walk, which is when he allegedly strangled and sexually assaulted the victim.
Noel's next court date is Oct. 2. It's unclear if Noel has an attorney.
