Response to Fatal Hit-and-Run Under Investigation

School officials said Anne-Marie Dansicker of Mount Pleasant High School in Providence died after being struck outside the school on the evening of Dec. 9

Rhode Island public health officials have opened an investigation into the emergency response to a hit-and-run that killed a high school teacher.

School officials said Anne-Marie Dansicker of Mount Pleasant High School in Providence died after being struck outside the school on the evening of Dec. 9.

WJAR-TV reports that Dansicker might not have been stabilized by Engine 15 firefighters and emergency responders at the scene. A witness told the station that responders did not administer IV fluids or put her in a cervical collar or on a back board.

The department says every response is different. Spokesman Joseph Wendelken confirmed that the agency looked at documentation on the event and decided to investigate.

Public Safety Commissioner Steven Pare says he's confident the responders followed protocol.
