I mention in the video forecast - for Northern New England winter sports enthusiasts, the feedback on this storm is like a New Year's party on Christmas Day - not so from most residents of Southern New England. Here are the highlights...or lowlights...depending upon your perspective:
- No morning commute for most areas because snow will be too heavy - one to two inches per hour
- Snow starts fluffy in nature, turns wetter as milder air moves in from south to north...slowly
- Slow northward progression of sleet/freezing rain mix...reaching MA Pike by late morning, inching farther north midday as precipitation intensity throttles back in Southern New England
- Comma head of storm - pulse of snow and wind - likely to bring worst conditions of the event for Southern NH and Southern ME late day into evening Tuesday
- Close call for Northern MA on whether this pulse of late day/eve snow and wind hits or stays just north - thinking it probably stays just north, except maybe extreme Northern Essex County
- Winds may gust 35-45 mph around midday in Eastern half of New England - not epic, but enough for isolated power outages
- Coastal flooding and severe beach erosion are NOT expected with this storm
- Black ice likely most areas Tuesday night as temperatures drop into the 20s
