    The National Weather Service says a weak tornado has struck Rhode Island.

    The tornado struck Portsmouth on Wednesday. It was an EF0 tornado, which is the weakest of six tornado strengths, and had maximum winds of 65 mph.

    The tornado had a path length of one-quarter of a mile and a path width of about 60 yards. It lasted about a minute.

    There were no reports of injuries, but there were a few uprooted and snapped trees and witnesses reported lawn furniture and tree limbs blown several hundred feet. A garage also suffered a bowed wall.
