Tracking the Tropics: Tropical Or Hybrid Storm Development Likely Near Florida

Meteorologist Matt Noyes is carefully monitoring thunderstorms that are organizing southwest of Jamaica and are heading toward Florida.  Expected to cross Florida later Wednesday, these thunderstorms may organize into Tropical Storm Nicole, or equally likely, may develop into a hybrid storm, fueled by tropical moisture and interacting with cooler air over the Eastern United States.  Either way, this is likely to represent in excess of 10" of additional rain this week in parts of the Mid-Atlantic, and 3" to 5" of rain here in New England.
