(NECN) – Some sad news for the generation that grew up in the Boston area from the 1950's to 1970's.

Rex Trailier, the beloved host of the kids TV show "Boomtown" on WBZ, has died.

Trailer’s friend and manager says he died Wednesday at his family's home in Florida.

On "Boomtown," trailer sang, played guitar and showed off cowboy skills he learned as a boy in Texas.

He was visiting family for the holidays when he got sick with pneumonia but his exact cause of death has not been released.
     
Rex Trailer was 84 years old.
