(NECN: Alison King) – Congressman Stephen Lynch is apparently close friends with the Richards family, who just lost their son, 8-year-old Martin Richards in the Boston Bombings.

“They’re doing better than you would expect under the circumstances for everything they’ve been through,” said Lynch.

He said the Richards family will be releasing a statement about the situation.

Lynch said although reports have said the family was there to support the father in the race, the father was not actually running in the marathon.

Alison King has more.
