(NECN: Washington, D.C.) - President Barack Obama took a break from the demands of his office to cheer on his daughter, Malia, at her soccer game in Washington Saturday.

At the time, the president was scheduled to fly to Poland from Andrews Air Force Base later in the day.  That trip to attend Polish President Lech Kaczynski's funeral has been canceled due to the volcanic ash cloud that has halted many flights from the United States to Europe.

The ash cloud has created hazardous flying conditions.  Kaczynski and 95 others were killed in a plane crash on April 10th in Russia, during heavy fog.
