(styleboston) - Feather frocks, arms of bangles, high-waisted belts, neon gloves, sky-high heels - stylist Joseph Gordon Cleveland knows what's hot for spring. This week, he gives Heloise a behind-the-scenes look at the preparation that goes into putting on a fashion show for Fashionably Late at The Liberty Hotel.
With so many beautiful garments to choose from, Heloise wonders where Joseph gets his inspiration. He says it all starts with abstract ideas but ultimately he chose to go with soft, casual daywear and of course, lots of sequins for this fashion show. Joseph admits that sequins for day is a fabulous trend, just be sure to sport them in the right palette.
Crunch time starts the day of the show at The Liberty Hotel. All garments are brought there to have the models do a run-through. After there is peace of mind that the clothes fit, the models get their hair done and their makeup applied. The ladies may look ready to hit the catwalk, but the final touches are the accessories. With so many beautiful pieces being borrowed, Heloise wonders how they keep everything in great condition. Joseph tells Heloise that they keep the shoes scuff free by taping the outsole twice.
Joseph even has a special guest for his fashion show. America's Next Top Model cast-off Fatima Siad joins the bevy of beauties parading around the foyer of The Liberty Hotel. Fatima tells Heloise that she thinks Boston is fashionable but Bostonians don't throw fashion in your face. She admits that it takes good clothes, a good theme and great models for a fashion show to be successful. And Joseph's show? She thinks it will be a hit because she loves the vintage inspired clothes and accessories he chose to showcase.
