FOXBORO - Gary Guyton tweaked his left leg (groin? hammy?) during the afternoon practice on Sunday and, while it didn't appear to be a major issue, he did leave the practice field for the remainder of the session.
As Tom Brady wandered onto the field, the music - coincidentally - was "I'm Too Sexy" by Right Said Fred, a band bigger than Elvis and The Beatles. Brady's teammates gave him crap. People laughed. And, according to the Wikipedia, Right Said Fred released a song called "Sexy Bum" last summer. It's available for download.
The most entertaining drill of the afternoon was Brady and Brian Hoyer hoisting bombs from 45 yards away trying to drop them into garbage cans. It's a drill I actually remember the Patriots doing with Brady, Drew Bledsoe, Michael Bishop and John Friesz in camp back in 2001. I don't recall seeing it too often since.
Stephen Neal, Nick Kaczur, Ty Warren, Mike Wright, Jonathan Wilhite and Ron Brace were the noteworthy names among the players held out of practice. Neal's may have been to rest his aching body. Kaczur and Warren were not seen around the field during either practice, hinting, perhaps at a more long-term situation.
Wes Welker was back at it in the afternoon practice after being unveiled during the morning for the first time in camp. He was held out of team drills for all but one rep when he caught a crossing pattern from Brady and then hustled off.
Monday will feature the normal morning practice then a 7 p.m. practice in the stadium for season-ticket holders. People are going to get their minds blown by the massive HD boards. Tom E. Curran can be reached at tcurran@comcastsportsnet.com. Follow Tom on Twitter at http://twitter.com/tomecurran
