(NECN) - An off duty Pawtucket, Rhode Island police officer is accused of pulling a gun on another driver. The alleged road rage incident happened Wednesday morning in South Kingstown.

Police say that Donald Lafreniere got upset because another driver, Ronald Mars, was tailgating his car. When both men got out of their cars to argue, Lafreniere allegedly pulled out his gun and waved it at Mars.

Lafreniere is charged with felony assault with a dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct.

He's now on paid leave from the Pawtucket police department.
