(NECN/WFTS: Tampa, Fla.) - No one was hurt after a US Airways plane made a hard landing this Saturday, according to Tampa Airport officials.
According to a US Airways official, the Boeing 737 plane was landing just after 2:30 p.m. when the front nose tire blew, causing the nose of the plane to hit the runway.
All 138 passengers and five crew members were not injured and were taken to a secure area.
Flight 1241 took off from Philadelphia just before noon Saturday.
The western runway remained closed, until the airplane could be towed.
TIA's remaining air traffic was being diverted to other runways. Residents in South Tampa will hear more noise because of changed flight patterns.
The runaway is expected to reopen in several hours.
