| July 3, 2009 MBTA prepares new alerts system

(NECN: Boston, Mass.) - The MBTA is getting ready to test new technology aimed at stopping trolley collisions.
The new system alerts drivers that they are approaching another train by sending out rapid beeping signals.
If the driver does not stop, the train will stop automatically.
This change comes after May's Green Line crash that injured nearly 50 people.
At the time, T drivers were complaining that the green line did not have better computerized systems meant to avoid collisions, such as the ones the red and orange lines use.
