82-Year-Old Woman Hits Signs, Gas Pump

Police say a Massachusetts woman is lucky to have avoided serious injury after swerving off the road, hitting an "Entering Braintree" sign and a street sign that impaled her windshield.

An 82-year-old woman had a close call over the weekend, crashing into two signs and a gas pump in Braintree, Massachusetts.

Police say the Holbrook resident swerved off Washington Street Saturday afternoon. She hit an "Entering Braintree" sign and a street sign before crashing into the concrete platform of a Super Petroleum pump.

No gasoline leaked from the pump after the crash.

The post of one of the signs impaled her windshield.

The woman was taken to South Shore Hospital for evaluation, but did not appear to be injured.

Police did not release the woman's name because she has not been charged with a crime.
