Boston Bar Cited After Shooting Near Fenway Park

A popular bar near Fenway Park has been cited after police say two women were injured in a shooting over the weekend.

Boston police confirm to necn Who's On First was issued a licensed premise violation early Sunday morning.

The women were leaving the bar around 2 a.m. Sunday when they said they heard gunshots. Police say one woman was shot in the leg and the other in her side. They suspect the incident was gang related.

Both women were rushed to local hospitals with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening. A Boston police spokesman did not have an update on their conditions Monday.

Police would not specify why the bar was cited.

Owners of the bar have declined to comment on the incident.

When bars are issued violations, city workers can either schedule a hearing for the property in question or issue disciplinary action, according to the city of Boston.
