Chihuahua Found Injured Roadside Gets Second Chance

Annette is resting in foster care after she was struck by a car

This adorable Chihuahua is resting comfortably in foster care after she was struck by a car, and left alone on the side of the road in Haverhill, Massachusetts.

Annette was found, alone and scared, by a Lawrence police officer on Sept. 4. The police department posted her photo and information on Facebook, but when no one came forward, the MSPCA-Nevins Farm stepped in.

Director Mike Keiley arranged transport of the animal to Boston, where the MSPCA's Angell Animal Medical Center performed a three-hour operation on the two-year-old dog, who suffered a badly fractured pelvis.

It is possible that the foster parent, who happens to be a veterinarian in Angell's Emergency and Critical Care Unit, may adopt her.
