Fair Employee from Conn. Killed in NC

A New Milford, Connecticut, man working at the Robeson County fair in North Carolina was been shot and killed during an attempted robbery and police have charged a man in his murder.

A New Milford, Connecticut, man working at the Robeson County fair in North Carolina was been shot and killed during an attempted robbery and police have charged a man in his murder.

Police said a 19-year-old man shot and killed Edward M. Reiner, 53, of New Milford, Connecticut, behind a convenience store across the street from the fair in Lumberton at 9:12 p.m. on Monday.

Police arrested Terrance Bedon Paige, 19, of Lumberton at 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday. He has been charged with first-degree murder and attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon. He is being held in lieu of bond.

Reiner worked for Dreamland Amusements featured at the fair that is set to open later this week.

Police said Reiner was shot several times, according to the Associated Press. He was pronounced dead at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.
